Position Summary and GoalTo lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth by providing services related to academic, social, vocational and personal development.
Reports toPrincipal
Performance Responsibilities- Plans, implements and evaluates a developmental, preventative guidance program that enhances the school culture and academic focus.
- Provides a variety of counseling service options that may include individual, small group, and classroom guidance to promote student success in academic, career and personal/social development.
- Assumes responsibility for the administration of the school in the absence of the Principal if an Assistant Principal is not employed in that school.
- Assists with the District’s compliance with federal, state, and local school mandates.
- Serves as the Building Assessment Coordinator, and facilitates state and district testing programs in the school.
- Directs the maintenance of the permanent record system and provides such records to schools and parents upon request.
- Oversees the registration and orientation of all new students into the school, and places students in the most appropriate instructional programs and classroom settings.
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of students.
- Individually and cooperative supervises students both in and out of the classroom.
- Provides for his/her own professional growth in accordance with state and federal regulation.
- Abides by the Professional Code of Ethics for Kentucky Certified School Personnel.
- Meets the Standards and Indicators set forth in the Certified Personnel Evaluation Plan.
- Adheres to the requirements of the District and school employee handbook, Glasgow Board of Education Policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Performs any other functions deemed necessary by the Principal that are reasonable and covered by local board policy or law.
