Mathematics Coach
Temple Hill Elementary School is receiving applications for an experienced math coach to help lead math efforts. This will require the person to fulfill the MAF grant requirements including having taught at least 5 years in the content area of math, leading MTSS at the school level, developing and leading professional learning at the school level, completing best practice walkthroughs with effective coaching and feedback to personnel, modeling best practice in the math classroom with teachers, completing an elementary math endorsement through UofL (15 hours), and general leadership responsibilities at Temple Hill Elementary.
Mathematics Coach Role and Responsibilities
A "mathematics coach" is defined as a mathematics leader whose primary responsibility is to provide ongoing support for mathematics teachers. The role of the coach is to improve mathematics teaching practices by working with teachers in their classrooms:
- observing and providing feedback to them;
- modeling appropriate evidence-based instructional practices;
- conducting workshops or institutes;
- establishing professional learning communities; and
- ensuring high-quality instructional resources are aligned to the Kentucky Academic Standards for Mathematics in order to meet the needs of primary students and other students who are struggling to meet grade-level standards in mathematics.
- Valid state teaching certification or licensure in elementary education (or equivalent)
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Demonstrated knowledge of elementary curriculum and instructional best practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
- Current background check clearance (or willingness to complete)
