Highways Regional Director – Scotland and England North

The Highways Regional Director reports directly to the Highways Scotland and England North District Lead and works closely with Highways Regional Directors and the Infrastructure Team Lead. The role focuses on developing the pipeline of major projects, positioning AECOM as a prime consultant in Scotland and northern England, and leading the pursuit and delivery of projects.
Key Responsibilities- Identify, prioritize, and plan business development activities in the region.
- Build and maintain client relationships, positioning AECOM as the preferred solution provider.
- Lead major pursuit proposals with national authorities such as Transport Scotland and National Highways and construction contractor partners.
- Support the Highway team’s performance and growth targets (e.g., Book‑to‑Burn, revenue pipeline, net service revenue growth).
- Leverage the wider AECOM network to enhance capability and work‑winning strategies.
- Set projects up for success and support project teams in the delivery of newly won projects.
- Champion a client‑centric approach across the team and promote inclusivity and diversity.
- Track record of achieving and/or exceeding financial KPIs and driving business growth.
- Experience in developing and maintaining client relationships and a work backlog with new and existing clients.
- Experience with clients in the region (Transport Scotland, National Highways, local authorities, and contractors).
- Experience maximizing existing contracts, winning new business, and optimizing account management.
- Recognition in the highways/civil infrastructure sector.
- Membership of a recognised professional body.
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline.
