Our AECOM Controls Team is a highly regarded, award-winning group within our Infrastructure & PMO Operating Unit. We work with clients in the UK and globally, supporting areas such as Cost, Risk, Planning, and Controls. Our focus is on delivering Controls Analytics solutions that empower clients to make data-driven decisions for managing project controls and overall performance effectively.
We have multiple exciting opportunities for proactive and analytical professionals to join our Controls Analytics team based out of our Glasgow office. The successful candidate will be involved at all stages of a project, from identifying the requirements and defining the project scope to leading the development and delivery of effective controls analytics solutions. This role offers the chance to work with high-profile clients on large-scale projects within a multidisciplinary environment and will require you to spend 3 days per week at our client office or site in Glasgow.
The Controls Analytics Consultant will play a key role in providing advanced analytics and data insights to support project controls functions for major infrastructure projects. This position is critical for ensuring that project risks, schedule performance, and cost forecasts align with overall business goals. The consultant will work closely with project managers, risk analysts, and commercial professionals to enhance project performance visibility and support effective decision-making.
Here’swhat you’ll do Controls Analytics & Reporting
- Develop and manage dashboards and reports that provide insights into project health across all PMO functions at the project and programme level.
- Develop and monitor key project performance indicators and identify trends, deviations, and improvement opportunities.
- Present clear and actionable insights to stakeholders to enable effective project governance decisions.
- Develop descriptive and predictive analytics models to assess potential project outcomes based on current data and trends.
- Collaborate with the risk management team to incorporate data-driven risk models into the controls process.
- Quantify and integrate risk impacts into forecasts and contingency planning to provide a holistic view of project performance, including supporting QSRA and QCRA.
- Work closely with project teams to understand requirements, explore desired outcomes and deliver tailored analytics solutions.
- Communicate complex analytics insights and recommendations in a clear and accessible manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ensure that all controls analytics methodologies and practices adhere to industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Stay updated on advancements in analytics tools, techniques, and associated technologies (including project controls software) and best practices within project and programme management.
Analytics & Data Skills
- Proficiency in using analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, Python) for data transformation, visualization, and predictive modelling.
- Experience with data integration and ETL processes; familiarity with PMO systems like PRISM, Primavera, and Aconex is a plus.
Problem Solving & Insight Generation
- Strong ability to interpret complex data sets, identify issues, and generate actionable insights.
- Skilled in analytical problem‑solving, with attention to detail in monitoring, reporting, and decision support.
Communication & Presentation
- Exceptional skills in conveying insights and analytics results to stakeholders through presentations and reporting.
- Familiarity with project controls disciplines such as cost control, scheduling, and risk management.
- Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) and techniques such as cost forecasting, variance analysis, and benchmarking.
