Job Title:
Strategic Sourcing Engineer
Location:
Glasgow
- Execute all Supply Chain Management (SCM) and procurement activities in accordance with SCM and company procedures.
- Identify and onboard new suppliers/subcontractors as per company procedures and SCM sourcing strategies.
- Assist the Tendering Department and Project execution with regards to their activities.
- Issue RFQs using the eSourcing platform.
- Obtain and negotiate final prices, deliveries, commercial terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure compliant technical and commercial bids.
- Prepare price comparison tables along with a total cost overview, identifying and comparing foreign exchange rate influences, transportation costs, payment terms, etc.
- Negotiate and prepare the Special Conditions of Purchase Orders and obtain relevant approvals as per LOA protocols.
- Coordinate with FSSC the Purchase to Pay process in the Oracle ERP system.
- Review order acknowledgements from suppliers for compliance with the terms of the purchase order.
- Manage purchase orders: process goods receipts in the ERP; administer invoices and resolve invoice queries; expeditiously process all materials/services and documentation required by the project delivery team; notify vendors of contractual breaches; prepare and negotiate claims; issue progress reports to reflect these activities.
- Identify and onboard potential new suppliers in accordance with Linxon processes and procedures.
- Input cost reductions achieved on purchases and produce periodic reports to the Line Manager.
- Assist in collating KPI data and reviewing costs, quality and service levels.
- Regularly review open purchase orders and take necessary actions to close them promptly.
- Follow Linxon code of conduct and ethics.
- Monitor compliance to health & safety and business ethics within operational work, contracts and negotiations.
- Strengthen customer relationships through successful procurement solutions.
- Participate in added‑value reviews, sourcing strategies and innovation initiatives.
- Minimum CIPS qualification (or equivalent) and relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Transmission or Distribution (11kV to 400kV) procurement and tendering activities.
- Understanding of industry standards and client working practices.
- Good working knowledge of international procurement frameworks.
- Experience with Oracle ERP system.
- Implemented new processes, tools or software and mentored team members.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders.
- Background in a high‑pressure, project‑driven environment.
- Ability to build relationships effectively and challenge the status quo.
- Effective communication at all levels.
