Cashier
Responsibilities include working a shift accurately and efficiently in accordance with company policy to contribute to store profitability. Cashiers receive and disburse money, use electronic scanners, cash registers, and process credit or debit card transactions and checks. Tasks also involve stocking shelves, hanging tags, monitoring checkout stations, maintaining cash drawer balance, and completing shift reports.
Essential Functions- Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure amounts are correct.
- Establish or identify prices of goods and services using cash.
- Stock shelves and hang tags.
- Monitor checkout stations to ensure they have adequate cash and are staffed.
- Accurately record all markups, markdowns, spoilage, and store use of merchandise.
- Advise Store Manager or Assistant Manager of personnel situations or policy violations.
- Advise other cashiers of operational problems to bring to the manager.
- Follow company policy by maintaining a low cash drawer and utilizing the safe.
- Complete shift‑checkout reports at appropriate times.
- Follow correct vendor check‑in procedures within company guidelines.
- Perform cleaning duties such as cleaning front windows and check stands.

Other RequirementsRequired to have access to a phone at all times, read and understand operating instructions, operate a cash register for up to 8 hours or longer, lift at least 25 pounds at least once per shift, perform basic math calculations for change, complete shift reports, and account for products during vendor check‑in.
