Job Summary

Responsible to ensure aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy to transport medical crew and patient to receiving hospital within an assigned operational area. Responsible for compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), General Operations Manual guidelines (GOM), and thorough knowledge of Air Methods policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner.
  • Complete pre‑flight checks, verify aircraft airworthiness, sign off daily flight log, and perform walk‑around before flight.
  • Serve as final authority on aircraft operations and safety of passengers, cargo and equipment.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with aircraft and medical systems and ensure flight team is comfortable with medical interior.
  • Complete required documentation.
  • Conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards.
  • Participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees and community outreach.
  • Perform other duties assigned.
Location & Compensation

Location:

Glasgow, KY. Off‑Duty housing available.

  • Base salary: $82,900–$?? per year (commensurate with flight and EMS experience).
  • Annual location stipend: $12,500.
  • Sign‑on bonus: $15,000.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent and 2–5 years related experience, or bachelor’s preferred.
  • Valid FAA medical certificate (first or second class).
  • Instrument rating for category and class of aircraft; ATP rating meets requirement.
  • Fixed‑wing multi‑engine rating required for twin‑engine aircraft.
  • Commercial single‑engine land required for single‑engine aircraft.
  • At least 2,000 total flight hours, 1,500 in category, 1,000 PIC in category, 500 hours of rotor‑wing turbine, 200 hours cross‑country, 50 hours night, 100 hours unaided night PIC (50 hours unaided can be substituted by NVG hours but not less than 50 hours unaided).
  • Maintained weight not to exceed 250 lbs and age under 70 years.
  • Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS reps, hospitals and public.
  • Regular scheduled attendance (7/7 schedule, 12‑hour shifts).
Other Requirements

Subject to applicable laws and Air Methods policies, regular attendance is essential. All employees must follow Air Methods’ employment practices and policies.

Position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Company conducts drug and alcohol testing per DOT/FAA requirements.
