AboutThe Role
We are recruiting a Facilities Technician (Electrician) who will carry out preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and minor works across electrical and associated building systems. The role focuses on electrical systems while supporting general facilities and maintenance activities where required, ensuring all assets are safe, compliant and fully operational across the SPT estate. Responsibilities also include basic plumbing tasks, fabric maintenance and grounds maintenance (such as grass cutting and general site presentation), and assisting with other maintenance activities.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders, prioritising workloads across both planned and reactive tasks while ensuring compliance and safe maintenance procedures are always adhered to and continually looking to improve processes and adopt good working practices.
You will be a highly motivated individual with the ability to plan work, operate in a changing environment and have a flexible and multi‑skilled approach to work. You will be a time‑served craft person, be 18 Edition Regulation certified, and have experience of electrical processes and procedures. You will be computer literate, able to work without immediate supervision and able to react to changing priorities in an operational environment.
Sound communication skills are important when working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure proactive and planned maintenance of the SPT estate.
Working outwith normal office hours on occasion may be required to support the operational requirements. The role is based at Buchanan Bus Station, Killermont Street, Glasgow. This position falls into the high risk category under the Alcohol and Drugs policy and therefore is subject to random and for‑cause testing procedures.
