AboutThe Role
We are seeking to recruit a Facilities Technician (Electrician) who will carry out preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and minor works across electrical and associated building systems. The role focuses primarily on electrical systems while also supporting general facilities and maintenance activities where required, ensuring all assets are safe, compliant and fully operational across the SPT estate. This includes basic plumbing tasks, fabric maintenance and grounds maintenance such as grass cutting and general site presentation, as well as assisting with other maintenance activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting routine and preventative maintenance on electrical systems.
- Providing reactive repairs and troubleshooting electrical faults.
- Assisting with plumbing, fabric and grounds maintenance tasks.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.
- Prioritising workloads across planned and reactive tasks to ensure compliance and safety.
- Continuously improving processes and adopting good working practices.
- Highly motivated with the ability to plan work in a changing environment.
- Time‑served craft person holding 18 Edition Regulation certification with experience of electrical processes and procedures.
- Computer literate and able to work unsupervised, reacting to changing priorities in an operational environment.
- Strong communication skills for working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Flexible, multi‑skilled and able to support tasks outside normal office hours.
This role may require working outside normal office hours on occasion to support operational requirements and will be based at Buchanan Bus Station, Killermont Street, Glasgow.
Position falls into the high risk category under the Alcohol and Drugs policy, subject to random and for‑cause testing procedures.
