Maintenance Electrician

Glasgow Clyde College has a fantastic opportunity for a Maintenance Electrician to join the Estates, Facilities and Energy department. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this is a stand-alone role where the post-holder will provide an efficient and effective service across all campuses, installing, maintaining and testing the College's electrical services. You will provide proactive advice and technical support on maintenance regimes for these services and undertake project work. The role offers variety, autonomy and the opportunity to work across a diverse estate, contributing directly to the safe and effective operation of the College's learning environments.

The successful candidate will be a qualified electrician who has completed a recognised apprenticeship with industry experience. You will have excellent knowledge of health and safety practices as well as knowledge and professional skills associated with latest edition of IEE Wiring Regulations. Strong communication skills and a flexible approach to work are essential.

A valid UK driving licence is required.

• Completed recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent training programme
• Relevant electrical qualification at SCQF Level 5 or equivalent
• Current knowledge of the 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations
• Full UK Driving Licence

• Proven experience in electrical installation, maintenance, testing and fault-finding
• Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on electrical systems
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings and wiring diagrams
• Knowledge of current electrical regulations, industry standards and compliance requirements
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work
• Experience producing and maintaining electrical certificates, reports and maintenance records
• Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical faults efficiently
• Experience working with electrical tools, equipment and machinery
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders
• Good IT skills and experience using maintenance management or helpdesk systems
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload across multiple sites
