Pertemps is recruiting for an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to join a maintenance team based in Glasgow.
This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced electrical and instrumentation professional with a background in maintenance, ideally within a chemically related process plant environment.
The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician will support the day-to-day maintenance and safe operation of electrical and instrumentation equipment across the site.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with the Branch Manager and Maintenance Technician to complete assigned work orders efficiently and within required timescales.
- Inspecting, troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing electrical and instrumentation faults and defects.
- Carrying out routine maintenance and testing of instrumentation equipment, including pressure and temperature gauges, flow meters, level indicators and control valves.
- Completing electrical installation, testing and inspections with a focus on safety, reliability and operational continuity.
- Maintaining electrical motors, lighting, fire systems and other critical electrical plant equipment.
- Overseeing electrical contractual work.
- Installing newly purchased equipment, including wiring, mounting, programming and testing.
- Maintaining records and documentation for electrical and instrumentation equipment, including installation dates, repairs, maintenance and safety inspections.
- Working within a safe system of work, including contractor control and Permit to Work processes.
- Supporting engineering projects at the Glasgow site, including providing technical support where required.
- Maintaining and servicing cryogenic equipment.
- Maintaining and changing actuator valves on vessels and filling equipment.
- Servicing and maintaining gas cylinder filling equipment.
- Supporting other operational sites where required.
The successful candidate will also contribute to improving site operations by:
- Maximising productivity within the maintenance function.
- Supporting the resolution of plant problems.
- Initiating and carrying out improvement projects.
- Reducing gas losses, raw material usage and energy consumption.
- Actively supporting site improvement projects.
- Following 5S principles to maintain a safe and efficient workplace.
- A time-served apprenticeship with a City & Guilds, NVQ, BTEC or ONC qualification in Electrical
, preferably with an instrumentation discipline. - Electrical Installations EAL qualification - BS7671:/3298/0.
- COMPEX qualification in Hazardous Area Installations is desirable but not essential
. - At least 2 years' maintenance experience within a chemically related process plant
. - Good keyboard and computer skills.
- Strong electrical and instrumentation knowledge.
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
