Position: Painting Supervisor (Marine)

Denholm Industrial Services are recruiting an experienced Marine Coatings Supervisor to oversee blasting and painting operations within a shipyard or marine environment. You will be responsible for ensuring all surface preparation and coating activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with marine project specifications and Class/Client requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily blasting and painting activities across vessels, modules, or marine structures.
  • Allocate operatives to workfaces and conduct start-of-shift briefings (RAMS/COSHH).
  • Ensure compliance with ITPs, Work Instructions, project specifications, and Class requirements.
  • Raise confined space and hot work permits as required.
  • Monitor surface preparation standards (blast profile, cleanliness) and coating application including primers, stripe coats, intermediates, and topcoats.
  • Control re-coat intervals and liaise closely with QC Inspectors and Client Representatives.
  • Ensure correct storage, handling, and traceability of marine coating materials.
  • Attend production meetings and provide daily progress reports.
  • Promote a strong safety culture in line with ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 standards.
Requirements
  • Proven supervisory experience in marine or shipyard blasting and painting.
  • Strong knowledge of marine coating systems and corrosion protection standards (e.g. ballast tanks, hulls, decks, structural steel).
  • Experience working to Client and Classification Society specifications.
  • Solid understanding of permit systems and confined space operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Must be SQEP for supervisory duties.
