Job Description
Key Responsibilities- Carry out routine servicing and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers in accordance with BS 5306 standards.
- Install new fire extinguishers and associated fire safety equipment.
- Conduct site surveys and provide recommendations for fire protection requirements.
- Inspect fire safety signage and ensure correct placement and compliance.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs where appropriate.
- Complete service reports, inspection records, and certification accurately and promptly.
- Advise customers on the correct selection and use of fire extinguishers.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in good working order.
- Manage stock levels of extinguishers, spare parts, and consumables.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive client relationships.
- Respond to emergency callouts when required.
- Experience servicing and maintaining fire extinguishers.
- Knowledge of fire safety regulations and British Standards.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Competent in completing paperwork and electronic service records.
- BAFE Fire Extinguisher Technician qualification.
- FIA (Fire Industry Association) training or equivalent.
- Experience working within the fire and security industry.
- Knowledge of fire alarm and emergency lighting systems.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- Professional appearance and manner.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Flexible approach to work and travel.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Field-based role requiring travel to customer sites.
- Occasional working at height and in confined spaces.
- Some out-of-hours or emergency call-out work may be required.
- Use of company vehicle, tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Compliance with service schedules.
- Quality and accuracy of maintenance records.
- Customer satisfaction levels.
- Health & Safety compliance.
- Achievement of service and productivity targets.
