The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced HGV / Commercial Vehicle Technician to join a well-established, independent commercial vehicle business based in Glasgow.
Our client operates a modern, well-equipped workshop, providing servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs across a wide range of commercial vehicles, from light commercial vans through to heavy goods vehicles.
Working with an established portfolio of blue-chip customers, the business prides itself on providing a high standard of service whilst maintaining a positive and supportive working environment for its technicians.
Unlike many high-pressure workshop environments, our client places a strong emphasis on manageable workloads, employee wellbeing and ensuring technicians have the time and facilities required to complete work to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs across a wide range of commercial vehicles, including LCVs, LGVs and HGVs.
Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and vehicle system faults.
Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and ensure vehicles remain roadworthy.
Carry out MOT preparation, vehicle inspections, servicing, and brake testing.
Work across a multi-brand fleet, gaining exposure to various makes and models of commercial vehicles.
Identify defects and complete necessary repairs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.
Maintain accurate records of servicing, maintenance and repair work.
Ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently, maintaining high workshop standards.
Requirements
Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, LGV Technician, Commercial Vehicle Technician or HGV Mechanic.
Strong mechanical knowledge of commercial vehicles, ideally including heavy goods vehicles.
Experience carrying out servicing, maintenance, inspections and mechanical repairs.
Confident diagnosing and repairing faults across different vehicle manufacturers.
Relevant qualifications in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent) would be desirable.
Ability to work independently and as part of an established workshop team.
A proactive approach to vehicle maintenance, safety and quality workmanship.
