The Department of History at Rowan University seeks a non‑tenure track, three‑quarter time faculty position in the history of gender and the early modern Atlantic world (1500‑1800) to start in January 2026. The position carries a teaching load of three courses per semester and has no required service. The position may be renewed annually, and the normal contract year extends from September 1 to June 30.
Applicants must have earned a master’s degree in a related field. The successful candidate will teach survey and upper‑division courses in their area of historical specialty. They may also teach courses for Rowan’s Women’s and Gender Studies Program or for the MA program in history. Candidates with a passion for the history of gender who specialize in the Atlantic world broadly and can teach early modern European, American, or cross‑Atlantic global histories to undergraduate and graduate students are preferred.
From candidates who advance to the next stage, the committee will request additional materials such as a teaching portfolio, letters of recommendation, and graduate transcripts at a later date.

In compliance with the State of New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act and the current MOA, ¾‑time instructors begin at a salary range of $21,711.84 for the period January 30, 2026 – June 30, 2026.
