Assistant Teaching Professor of Creativity, College of the Arts
Rowan University’s College of the Arts is inviting applications for a non‑tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor, with the appointment beginning July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will teach and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels and will make substantive service contributions to the department and its programs. All faculty are encouraged to pursue professional development to stay current in their field and instructional approaches.
ProgramOverview
The PhD in Creativity is a transdisciplinary program that accepts dissertation‑ready students with an MA or equivalent in any field. Scholars design a dissertation committee that includes faculty from both inside and outside of Rowan University to broaden perspectives. The course work, intensive mentoring, recruitment of students, and design of intensive summer and winter residencies are core duties of this position.
Responsibilities- Teach 30 credits per academic year (with optional overload for additional compensation).
- Mentor, support, and supervise all PhD in Creativity students, including recruiting and reviewing applications.
- Design and implement summer and winter intensive residence programs.
- Contribute to departmental and undergraduate/graduate service activities.
- Engage in ongoing transdisciplinary research and writing.
- PhD degree in the humanities.
- Professional experience in an arts discipline that involves embodied cognition.
- Experience supervising PhD candidates in transdisciplinary projects.
- Active engagement in transdisciplinary research and scholarly writing.
Full‑time, 12‑month appointment. Positions are renewable based on performance reviews and programmatic needs.

SalaryThe annual base salary range for this position is:
- Assistant Teaching Professor: $21,000 – $24,000
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; this position does not sponsor work visas. Funding is contingent upon budget appropriations.
