Job DescriptionGlassboro Public Schools is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Special Education Teacher. This position is responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:
Qualifications• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Must obtain a Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) or Certificate of Eligibility (CE) license.
• Demonstrated knowledge of special education regulations (Federal and State) and current trends/research in the field for accelerated achievement of students with disabilities.
• Ability to use technology, including laptops, desktops, specialized assessment, and data analysis software.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and engage diverse parents/guardians.
• Ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners.
• Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
The Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing specialized academic services directly to the students as well as collaborating with their parents and the IEP team regarding implementation of the Individualized Education Plan. The employee will deliver effective academic instruction in line with school-approved academic curriculum, state standards and student IEPs.
- Provides direct instruction to students with disabilities.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and group instruction to meet IEP needs.
- Assesses student progress regularly using tests, curriculum measurements, and observations, and provides progress reports.
- Conducts educational assessments.
- Communicates with parents through conferences, IEP Team meetings, and other means to discuss progress.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records and case files as required.
- Attends and actively participates in staff/faculty meetings and system staff development priorities.
- Provides input regarding instructional goal planning for students with disabilities.
- Takes necessary safety precautions to protect students and instructional materials.
- Communicates with students when academic and behavioral problems arise.
- Promotes a positive and welcoming atmosphere to encourage collaboration.
This is a ten (10) month position with salary and contract terms to be negotiated with the Superintendent and the Board of Education.
EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
