Tenure-Track or Tenured Faculty Position in Biomedical Ethics

Department of Philosophy & World Religions, Ric Edelman College of Communication, Humanities & Social Sciences, Rowan University.

Appointment

10‑month, full‑time, tenure‑track or tenured faculty member. Appointment to begin September 1, 2026. Positions at Assistant, Associate or Full Professor levels.

Research Focus

Develop a research program in Biomedical Ethics and contribute to a research cluster in the medical and health humanities within the Ric Edelman College of Communication, Humanities & Social Sciences.

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Philosophy or a related field.
  • Track record or potential to establish and sustain a strong research program in biomedical ethics.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence and commitment to inclusive teaching and mentoring practices.
  • Experience securing competitive public grant and private foundation funding.
  • Engagement in service at the departmental, college, or university level.
Responsibilities
  • Develop courses and interdisciplinary programs in biomedical ethics or related areas such as ethics of technology, philosophy of medicine and science, disability ethics, and reproductive ethics.
  • Coordinate events on these topics, including research talks, public lectures, conferences, and student‑focused programming.
  • Recruit students and support growth of department majors, minors, and certificate programs.
  • Secure extramural funding to support research, programming, and interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Engage in service endeavors in the department, college, and university.
Salary and Benefits

Annual base salary ranges (AFT):

  • Assistant Professor: $22 – 25 k
  • Associate Professor: $26 – 29 k
  • Full Professor: $30 – 33 k
