Compensation: Minimum $2,225 per credit for all courses taught, with a maximum teaching load of 8 credits per semester and 12 credits in an academic year.
Job ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will supervise field experiences for students in special education and inclusive practices, and may teach in‑person or online courses at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing, implementing, and evaluating field experience placements.
- Facilitating classroom instruction and providing academic support to students.
- Collaborating with faculty and department staff to maintain accreditation standards.
- Participating in faculty meetings and professional development activities.
- Ensuring compliance with institutional policies and legal requirements related to special education instruction.
Required:
- Master's degree in special education or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Meets state licensure requirements for special education.
- Minimum 3 years of public or private teaching experience in pre‑K‑12 settings.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and service in special education.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Commitment to fostering academic achievement, social responsibility, and social justice.
- Commitment to collaboration, collegiality, professional development, diversity, scholarly inquiry, student learning, civic responsibility, and respect for all people.
- Familiarity with current teacher accountability requirements, research, and best practices in special education.
- Teaching/learning philosophy consistent with the mission of the College of Education.
Preferred:
- Experience with supervision of field experiences.
- Experience teaching in higher education settings.
