Adjunct Faculty, Developmental Reading – Department of Critical Literacies, Technology, and Multilingual Education (CLTM) – College of Education

This is a part‑time adjunct position with the possibility of renewal on a term‑by‑term basis. We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach courses in our reading/literacy programs. We offer two developmental reading courses for Rowan students depending on their Accuplacer score:
Improving Personal Reading Skills and Critical Thinking and Reading of Academic Texts
. Both courses focus on comprehension strategies, vocabulary development, study skills, and decision making across a broad spectrum of academic majors.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher in literacy or reading
  • A minimum of 3 years of successful teaching in P‑12 settings or working with adult literacy
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering academic achievement, social and personal responsibility, and social justice
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in an environment devoted to collaboration, collegiality, professional development, diversity, scholarly inquiry, student learning, civic responsibility, and respect for all people
  • A teaching/learning philosophy consistent with the mission of the College of Education

All positions are contingent upon need for instructors in a given semester and budget appropriations.

Note: Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. The University will not sponsor a visa for this position.

Compensation

In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, Rowan University adjuncts are provided with a minimum of $2,225 per credit for all courses taught, with a maximum teaching load of 8 credits per semester and 12 credits in an academic year. Courses will be assigned to instructors by College & Department on an as‑needed basis.
