Position Summary
The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating nursing services during the overnight shift (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM) to ensure the delivery of high-quality resident care in accordance with facility policies, state and federal regulations, and professional nursing standards. The Nursing Supervisor serves as the clinical leader on duty, providing guidance and support to nursing staff while ensuring resident safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient facility operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Leadership- Supervise and direct licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants during the assigned shift.
- Provide clinical guidance, support, and problem-solving for resident care issues.
- Respond to emergencies and significant changes in resident condition.
- Assess residents as needed and assist with complex nursing procedures.
- Ensure physician orders are implemented accurately and timely.
- Monitor staff performance and adherence to facility policies and procedures.
- Assign and adjust staffing based on resident acuity and census.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and education to nursing personnel.
- Address employee concerns and facilitate conflict resolution when necessary.
- Participate in performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as directed.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS and Department of Health requirements.
- Monitor documentation for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Conduct rounds throughout the facility to evaluate resident care and safety.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and unusual occurrences, completing required reports.
- Participate in quality improvement and infection prevention initiatives.
- Serve as the primary nursing management representative during overnight hours.
- Communicate significant resident, staffing, and operational issues to the Director of Nursing and Administrator.
- Collaborate with physicians, families, interdisciplinary team members, and outside agencies as needed.
- Ensure appropriate shift-to-shift communication and report exchange.
- Review staffing schedules and coordinate coverage for call-outs.
- Monitor facility operations and maintain a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Complete required supervisory reports and documentation.
- Participate in on-call responsibilities as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of nursing experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or subacute rehabilitation.
- Previous supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred.
- Knowledge of long-term care regulations and standards of practice.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
- Current CPR certification.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and assist residents as necessary.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and resident care needs.
- Ability to work overnight hours and maintain alertness throughout the shift.
- Full-Time
- Overnight Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Weekends and holidays as required
