GEI’s Glastonbury, CT (Hartford) office is seeking a motivated & experienced Geotechnical Engineer / Project Manager to assist on a variety of projects throughout the region. Project types will include residential and commercial buildings, infrastructure and transportation, dams and levees, and waterfront development.
Responsibilities- Plan, manage, and execute projects.
- Perform geotechnical analysis and design.
- Prepare geotechnical reports.
- Observe and manage field explorations and construction activities.
- Design and implement geotechnical instrumentation projects.
- Assist in preparing full design packages with calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Assist in overseeing construction of specialty geotechnical items such as deep foundations, tiebacks, and grouting, among others.
- Develop proposals and participate in other business development activities.
- Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and third-party vendors.
- Train and mentor staff.
- B.S. in Civil Engineering. Geotechnical course work required.
- 6 to 12 or more years of experience.
- Must have passed the F.E. exam.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel on assignments as needed.
- Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
- Ability to perform field work on active construction sites without restrictions, and in inclement weather if required.
- M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering preferred. Structural course work is a plus.
- Professional Engineer’s license preferred.
