Overview
This Opportunity WSP is currently seeking a Lead Structural Bridge and Infrastructure Inspector to join our team in Glastonbury, CT
. This is a technical field and office position that requires travel throughout Connecticut and possible additional locations within the US. The ideal candidate will be available for immediate employment with a long-term assignment. The candidate must be capable of physical activity.
- Work as a Team Leader on Bridge Inspections
- Assist with the development of plans/sketches using AutoCAD
- Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work
- Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills
- Learn basic principles of bridge and transportation engineering
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis
- Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates
- Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation. Complete training on assigned tasks
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 11+ years of experience in bridge inspection or design or other bridge related work
- Demonstrated interest in structures, transportation or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
- Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) is required
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements

Skills:
Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office applications, Adobe PDFs - Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to work well independently and with others
- Valid Driver License
- Sufficient physical stamina to work long hours indoors and outdoors under various field conditions and exposure to traffic, extreme heat, cold, rainfall, and snow
- Climbing, bending, crawling, and working in confined spaces and on uneven terrain
- Ability to lift 25+ lbs
- Must pass a physical and background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification
- Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline
- ASNT NDT Level II Certification (UT and MT)
- Precast Concrete Institute Level II Quality Control Technician/Inspector
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I
- NACE / AMPP or SSPC Coatings Certification
- ICC Bolting certification
