Vice President/Connecticut Licensed Environmental Professional
WSP is seeking a full-time Vice President/Connecticut Licensed Environmental Professional to support our environmental operations in the Shelton and Glastonbury, CT offices. In this role you will lead complex environmental projects, provide strategic leadership for the scientific discipline, and develop business opportunities with existing and new clients.
Your Impact- Lead complex environmental projects, ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, prepare and oversee relevant project budgets, monitor external events, track hours and expenses, and ensure profitability and satisfactory performance.
- Provide proactive and strategic leadership for the scientific discipline and function, offering direction, expertise, and support to ensure project and work site deliverables are successfully achieved within the business sector.
- Scope, budget, and manage environmental projects, including Phase I/II/III Environmental Site Assessments.
- Prepare proposals for various environmental projects.
- Contribute to and manage multidisciplinary project teams in all phases of execution and delivery of siting and licensing for assigned business sector projects, as well as natural resource planning and management projects.
- Actively foster compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local environmental laws, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support the long‑term strategy, growth, and pipeline development of Environmental Science work for WSP in the assigned area.
- Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings.
- Assist with the preparation of an annual update to business tactical action plans within the specified area.
- Ensure that scientific discipline certifications, accreditations, and value proposition are continuously improved.
- Conduct needs analyses and client value surveys to align the scientific discipline’s function with business strategy, identifying and addressing skill gaps or risks.
- Schedule scientific discipline meetings and provide updates and recommendations to ensure discipline expertise is integrated into project work.
- Serve as the discipline’s lead representative/liaison to external entities, including Federal, State, and Local Agencies, clients, subcontractors, and community groups.
- Develop and inform proposal and project scopes, timelines, pricing, and budgetary metrics.
- Interpret and summarize data, including reports and documents that result in sound scientific and regulatory conclusions.
- Develop a client base for high‑level Environmental Science services and identify additional business development opportunities.
- Manage and provide performance guidance to assigned staff.
- Remain current in latest environmental science techniques and practices.
- Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines to provide trusted advisor service and future‑ready solutions for clients.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
– Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or a related life sciences field.
- 12+ years of experience in the environmental consulting field.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively, persuasively, and tactfully at all levels.
- Tactical lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail in a pressured work environment.
- Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, and staff.
- Advanced proficiency with office automation and communication software used in corporate environments.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and anti‑harassment policies.
- Strong adaptability to change and flexibility to a variety of schedules to meet business needs.
