The function of the Project Engineer is to plan, organize, and control project activities to achieve successful completion of assigned projects while operating within the guidelines established by the Project Manager and within established schedules, budgets, and QA/QC policy constraints. Typical projects include municipal water, sewer, and roadway infrastructure, dams, site planning, and stormwater management. You will work in a team environment on a broad range of engineering projects from planning through implementation.
Responsibilities- Support the project team in preparing a professional, economical, and effective set of plans and specifications.
- Conduct engineering computations to design difficult and complex projects.
- Communicate directly with governmental/regulatory staff regarding design concepts and requirements; represent clients at regulatory agency hearings or meetings.
- Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans) and report regularly on project status to the Project Manager.
- Monitor compliance with applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications.
- Lead the design concept of the plans and specifications.
- Consult and advise field engineers, contractors, and inspectors during the construction phase.
- Communicate with the Project Manager on project strategy and matters that may impact project outcomes.
- Assist in preparing project proposals, including scope of work, time schedule, and manpower estimates.
- Promote new business for the company and your area of expertise.
- BS in Civil Engineering required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license with a minimum of 4 years of related experience, OR Engineer in Training (EIT) on track to attain PE license with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Sound mathematical skills.
- Working knowledge of software such as AutoCAD.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
A criminal background check and driving record check will be conducted.
