Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: MRB (Material Review Board) Engineer

Description

Projects Inc. is seeking an experienced Material Review Board Engineer to support the disposition, investigation, and resolution of nonconforming product within a precision aerospace manufacturing environment. This role goes far beyond processing Non-Conformance Material Reviews (NCMs). The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating complex manufacturing issues, leading root cause investigations, assessing risk to product and customer requirements, and driving corrective actions that improve process capability and prevent recurrence.

The ideal candidate is naturally curious, technically grounded, and comfortable making decisions in situations where information may be incomplete or conflicting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and disposition nonconforming material in accordance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
  • Evaluate product against engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T requirements, and customer standards.
  • Lead Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations related to manufacturing, inspection, supplier, and process-related non-conformance.
  • Conduct technical investigations involving machining, inspection, tooling, fixtures, assembly, and special process issues.
  • Analyze manufacturing and inspection data to identify trends, recurring issues, and systemic process weaknesses.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Program Management, and Customers to resolve technical issues.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in customer audits, RCCA reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts focused on reducing escapes, scrap, rework, and process variation.
  • Evaluate risk and provide technically sound recommendations under production and schedule pressure.
Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, MRB engineering, or related technical roles.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
  • Experience evaluating dimensional non-conformance and engineering deviations.
  • Working knowledge of machining, inspection methods, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience conducting root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Aerospace industry experience.
  • AS9100 experience.
  • MRB authority experience.
  • Experience supporting customer corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with SPC, MSA, Gauge R&R, PFMEA, and statistical problem‑solving methods.
  • Experience with CMM inspection and dimensional analysis.
  • Experience with precision machined components and tight‑tolerance manufacturing environments.
What Success Looks Like
  • Challenge assumptions before drawing conclusions.
  • Separate facts from opinions.
  • Follow evidence wherever it leads.
  • Understand that root cause must be proven, not assumed.
  • Remain objective under production pressure.
  • Balance customer protection with practical manufacturing realities.
  • Are trusted advisors to Quality, Engineering, and Operations.
Why Projects

This position offers the opportunity to work directly on complex aerospace manufacturing challenges while partnering with experienced engineering, quality, and operations teams. The role provides significant visibility and influence across the organization and is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical problems and driving meaningful improvements.
