Important: This position will manage Civil Engineering design projects related to Wastewater Infrastructure. It is not related to IT, software, technology, or any other type of project management so candidates with those backgrounds will not be considered.

Apex is seeking a talented Civil Engineering Project Manager to lead a variety of municipal wastewater infrastructure engineering projects throughout New England. This position is hybrid and can be based out of any of our New England offices or located in any area where they can travel frequently to our New England client sites. We are offering a sign-on bonus and will also consider relocation to New England for the right candidate.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Manage project implementation with assigned project team and follow all company policies and operating procedures, including keeping the client informed of the ongoing status of a project and providing adequate management, advice, and support to the members of the project team.
- Initiate projects by developing proposals/scopes of work and project budgets for approval by the Principal. For assigned projects, complete project initiation documents that include detailed scope/outline, budget, and schedule for completion.
- Supervise and direct individuals or teams of technical staff on projects and assist in the training and technical development of staff by holding training seminars, providing technical guidance during project execution, and bringing new technical developments in-house.
- Consult with other technical staff and Project Managers on technical challenges in the wastewater discipline while also providing independent technical reviews on projects for other wastewater discipline leaders.
- Oversee the technical accuracy of project through regular communications with project staff, review of plans, specifications, reports, and calculations to ensure compliance with the firm's standards.
- Track all project costs, including labor and expenses, versus the project, and ensure that invoices are issued to the client in a timely manner in accordance with company policy.
- Other tasks may include proposal preparation, participating in project interviews, attending public meetings, developing fee proposals, preparing contracts and presenting information to new and future potential clients.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or other related Engineering disciplines and 9+ years of related wastewater design experience, including project management, or a Master’s degree in the same with 8+ years of related experience.
