Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of multidisciplinary engineers.
  • Oversee all aspects of traffic engineering studies and designs
  • Manage projects and meet agreed-upon budgets and schedules
  • Make public presentations
  • Perform quality control reviews
  • Assist with the development of traffic staff including workloads, training, and career planning
  • Develop or review all aspects of traffic engineering studies including data collection, microsimulation model development and calibration (Sim Traffic and VISSIM) or other deterministic models such as Synchro, HCS, Trans Modeler, or SIDRA, traffic forecasting, and analysis of alternatives
  • Work with state or municipal clients on transportation infrastructure projects, including the design and management of public state, county, and city roads.
  • Developing new and existing client relations and business development opportunities.
  • Assist with proposal preparation to secure new work
  • Serve as Traffic Discipline Lead on pursuits and opportunities
  • Represent MJ at industry and professional society events
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license required with the ability to apply for comity in other states.
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification required.
  • 10+ years of progressive traffic engineering analysis, design, and project management experience.
  • Project experience with State DOT’s required.
  • Proficient with Synchro and Sim Traffic, HCS, SIDRA and VISSIM.
  • Working knowledge of Microstation, AutoCAD, ESRI ArcGIS, or Adobe Illustrator.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work in a dynamic environment.
  • Active Transportation, Multi-modal and transit-oriented design experience.
  • Innovative intersections, and/or ITS experience a plus.
