Mechanical Design Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support a leading power generation construction company specializing in large-scale energy infrastructure projects. This individual will play a critical role in the design, coordination, and execution of mechanical systems for power generation facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience working within construction environments and be comfortable collaborating with engineering, construction, and project management teams throughout the entire project lifecycle.

This position offers the opportunity to work on complex energy projects involving power plant systems, industrial equipment, piping networks, HVAC systems, and balance-of-plant mechanical infrastructure.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Develop and review mechanical designs, specifications, calculations, and engineering drawings for power generation construction projects.
• Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, contractors, and external engineering firms to ensure successful project execution.
• Support mechanical system design for equipment including pumps, piping systems, boilers, turbines, heat exchangers, HVAC systems, and auxiliary plant equipment.
• Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and technical evaluations to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
• Assist with equipment selection, procurement support, and technical bid evaluations.
• Review RFIs, submittals, change orders, and vendor documentation during project execution.
• Perform site visits and field inspections to validate design implementation and support construction activities.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable safety standards, building codes, industry regulations, and client specifications.
• Provide technical solutions for design challenges encountered during construction and commissioning phases.
• Maintain project documentation and communicate progress, risks, and technical updates to stakeholders.
