Asst. Property Manager

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Assistant Property Manager to support commercial real estate accounting operations in Glen Allen, Virginia. This Long-term Contract position will focus on managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to timely monthly reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong experience across payables, receivables, and general ledger activity within a property accounting environment.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices and payment activity accurately while ensuring accounts payable records remain current and organized.

- Monitor incoming tenant payments, apply cash receipts, and follow up on outstanding balances to support accounts receivable accuracy.

- Maintain general ledger entries and reconcile financial data to help ensure reliable property-level reporting.

- Assist with month-end close tasks, including preparing journal entries, reviewing account activity, and resolving discrepancies.

- Support accrual-based accounting procedures by recording expenses and revenue in the appropriate reporting periods.

- Work within Yardi software to manage accounting transactions, generate reports, and maintain property financial information.

- Coordinate with property management and related stakeholders to address accounting questions and keep financial activity aligned with operational needs.

Requirements

- Previous experience in property management, preferably supporting commercial real estate portfolios.

- Practical knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.

- Hands-on experience using Yardi software in an accounting setting.

- Understanding of month-end close processes and accrual accounting principles.

- Ability to review financial information carefully and identify inconsistencies or missing details.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with internal teams and external communication
