We’re looking for an Architectural Summer Intern to join our Mason & Hanger team for Summer 2026. This position is specifically aimed at students enrolled in an accredited architecture undergrad/graduate program and with little or no professional experience. The Architectural Summer Intern will be primarily focused on learning production tools and developing their ability to successfully execute project tasks. The Architectural Summer Intern works in a studio/team environment directly under supervision of more senior staff within department.
Asthe Architectural Summer Intern, here’s the work you’ll do:
- Creating and editing drawings (CAD / BIM).
- Perform other duties supporting senior architecture staff, as assigned.
- Assist with presentations, models, renderings, and proposals.
- Complying with data protection principles while handling personal, protected and / or Covered Defense Information on behalf of Day & Zimmermann. Data Handlers should be trained to follow documented policies, standard operating procedures and secure practices associated with protecting trusted employee and customer data.
- Developing proficiency with drawing production software regularly used in department (AutoCAD, Revit, Microstation, AECOsim).
- Learning software, processes, and document preparation requirements.
- Developing knowledge of regularly used standards within department.
- Developing understanding of design and construction process.
- Must build trusted relationships with department through maintaining ownership for assigned work and delivering efficient and high quality results.
- Expected to be a proactive learner, responsible to seek out support when needed, identify expectations, check own work output against quality expectations, and pursue opportunities to grow technical capabilities.
- Maintains professional humility and respect in partnership with all team members in pursuit of overall project success. Is expected to know their own technical limitations and proactively seek out support where needed.
- Ability to take direction and guidance from more senior staff within department.
- Data privacy, information security and policy compliance.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Architecture program or technical/trade school.
- Due to the nature of the work and applicable federal contract requirements, U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
- Great attitude and team player.
- Successful completion of drug and background screening process.
