Senior Electrical Engineer - Battery Energy Storage Systems; BESS

• Support grid-scale BESS projects by developing conceptual layouts, one-line diagrams, and detailed design packages for construction.
• Evaluate energy storage technologies, products, and vendors; support client technology and vendor selection.
• Develop detailed electrical engineering designs for microgrid and distributed energy projects.
• Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents.
• Assist clients in identifying and implementing use-cases for BESS in various settings.
• Compile technical reports explaining BESS concepts, use-cases, and feasibility studies.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, fire & life safety, high-voltage electrical, SCADA/telecommunications, and geotechnical engineers to produce comprehensive design packages.
• Participate in design reviews and support project development, including updates to internal guidelines and templates.
• Conduct quality assurance on electrical work and support construction activities through technical assistance.
• Engage in meetings with clients, contractors, and vendors to support project execution and business development.
• Manage project workload to meet schedules and serve as a mentor to junior staff.
• Provide technical support to HDR teams and clients.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in BESS, distributed generation, renewables, or power systems.
• PE license and experience adhering to relevant electrical codes and standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, Easy Power, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication skills and ability to support multiple projects.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

• Experience with integrating BESS into power generation and renewable facilities.
• Technical data analysis and interpretation skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
