Ramboll is seeking motivated and inquisitive candidates to join our Water Division in Syracuse, NY;
Rochester, NY;
Arlington, VA; or Richmond, VA. As a Municipal Wastewater Process Design Engineer you will contribute to project planning, design, and execution of wastewater treatment solutions that meet regulatory and client requirements.

• Plan and design portions of projects of greater complexity, following appropriate design, engineering codes, government and third‑party standards.
• Analyze, develop and interpret reports, drawings, analytical data, and other information required for planning and design of wastewater treatment projects.
• Review and determine regulatory requirements (local, state, federal) applicable to each assignment.
• Prepare and, when needed, present reports or analyses such as design calculations, field data results/conclusions, and cost estimates to internal teams and external clients.
• Communicate directly with external stakeholders, including vendors, subcontractors, contractors, and regulators.
• Support preparation of proposals and fee estimates.
• Train and mentor early‑career employees.
• Utilize an advanced understanding of engineering fundamentals and proficiency with relevant computer software packages and design techniques specific to wastewater treatment and hydraulic engineering.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with engineers, scientists, and subcontracted professionals.
• Identify and troubleshoot field assignments in accordance with project control and field guidance documents.

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Engineering.
• 10+ years of qualifying engineering experience in the wastewater treatment engineering/design field.
• Experience with Best Nutrient Removal (BNR) and Enhanced Nutrient Removal (ENR) processes in municipal wastewater projects, particularly related to the Chesapeake Bay Watershed or similar programs.
• Professional Engineering certification or the ability to obtain licensure within the primary state of residence/operation, relevant to the job function.
• Willingness to travel as project requirements dictate.

Anticipated base salary range: $115,000 to $140,000 per year. Compensation varies by location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity.
