Ramboll's Water Division is looking for a Municipal Wastewater Process Design Engineer to work in Syracuse, Rochester, Arlington, or Richmond.
Job DescriptionAs a Municipal Wastewater Process Design Engineer, you will:
- Plan and design portions of complex projects, following design standards, engineering codes, and third-party requirements.
- Analyze, develop, and interpret reports, drawings, analytical data, and other information required for planning and design.
- Review and determine applicable regulatory requirements (local, state, federal).
- Prepare and present reports or analyses such as design calculations, field data results, and cost estimates to internal teams and external clients.
- Communicate directly with external stakeholders, including vendors, subcontractors, contractors, and regulators.
- Support proposal development and fee estimation.
- Train and mentor early-career employees.
- Apply advanced engineering fundamentals and proficiency with relevant software and design techniques specific to wastewater treatment and hydraulic engineering.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Promote Ramboll's growth through commitment to high-quality deliverables.
- Perform troubleshooting and proactive problem solving for field assignments in accordance with project control documents.
Required experience and credentials:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Engineering.
- 10+ years of qualifying engineering experience in wastewater treatment, including data evaluation, conceptual and detailed design, construction support, and commissioning.
- Experience with BNR and ENR processes on municipal wastewater projects; knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed or similar programs is a plus.
- Professional Engineering certification or eligibility to obtain licensure in your primary state of residence/operation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and independent judgment skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
Travel may be required depending on project needs.
BenefitsAnticipated base salary range: $115,000 to $140,000 per year. Total rewards will also include bonus opportunities, overtime, and a comprehensive benefits package that supports well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
