Responsibilities
- Perform energy assessments on commercial and industrial buildings
- Recommend changes to building automation systems
- Perform energy calculations and write reports
- Identify energy efficiency measures
- Diagnose building HVAC control issues
- Assess equipment condition
- Estimate project costs
- Perform site visits
- Conduct meetings and presentations with clients and customers
- Produce non-technical and technical writing
- Work with data centers and verify new construction projects
- Perform energy modeling using Open Studio
- Conduct custom rebate analysis
- Support industrial new construction projects
- Develop regression models
- Provide ongoing energy consulting through strategic energy management
- After three months, learn company processes and procedures, complete at least two energy audits independently, complete at least one verification site visit with another engineer, and learn program rules and processes
- After six months, become fully trained on at least one energy efficiency program, lead customer meetings and project report-outs, and complete at least ten audits independently
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in mechanical, chemical, or building systems engineering
- Zero to six years experience in energy efficiency, HVAC operations/controls, utility programs, building energy modeling, building retrofit projects, HVAC controls, building codes/safety standards, or HVAC consulting/design-build engineering
- EIT or PE (Professional Engineer) is preferred but not required
- Ability to communicate complicated ideas to a variety of audiences
- Skilled at interfacing with contractors and building owners
- Deep interest in energy, systems, and process efficiency, and improving productivity
- Lifetime self-learner
- Ability to travel up to 30% regionally
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk moderate distances
- Ability to frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds
- Ability to occasionally lift or move objects up to 50 pounds
- Ability to occasionally crawl on the floor and climb ladders
Demonstrates expertise in energy assessments, HVAC operations, and energy efficiency measures, with a strong ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences. Proficient in energy modeling and project management within commercial and industrial settings.
