Job Description Mortgage Operations Support – Retail & Correspondent Desk (Contract)
Location: Glen Allen, VA (Hybrid – 4 days onsite)
Pay Rate: $23.58/hour (W2)
Duration: 6 Months
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Interview Process: One round via Microsoft Teams
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable contractor to support Mortgage Operations within the Retail and Correspondent Lock Desk. This role partners closely with Loan Officers, Lenders, and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely maintenance of loan data, lock updates, and pricing changes.
The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and mathematical skills, a foundational understanding of mortgage terminology, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume, collaborative environment.
Immediate coverage is required.
Key Responsibilities- Process loan updates including locks, relocks, extensions, renegotiations, and rate changes in accordance with pricing and eligibility guidelines
- Perform manual lock maintenance for Retail and Mortgage Loan Officers
- Assist with testing, validation, and documentation during pricing and eligibility rule rollouts
- Support reporting, tracking, and audit activities to ensure transparency, compliance, and operational accuracy
- Manage high email volume across 4 shared inboxes (30–50 emails per inbox daily)
- Communicate effectively with internal partners to resolve loan pipeline issues
- Maintain accurate and efficient data entry within mortgage systems
- Primary Platforms: Empower, SPARK (proprietary system), Encompass, Polly Ex
- Microsoft Office Suite (strong Excel proficiency required)
- Strong attention to detail
- Above-average mathematical skills (fractions, percentages, pricing calculations)
- Basic understanding of mortgage terminology (credits, debits, rates)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality customer service
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams
No college degree required
Preferred Qualifications- Prior mortgage industry experience (Lock Desk experience not required)
- Experience with Empower, Encompass, or Polly Ex
