Senior Controls Specialist – Financial Controls

The Specialist will be primarily focused on the development and implementation of cost controls for large capital projects across Dominion Energy’s fleet of four nuclear power stations.

They will be directly responsible for establishing and implementing standardized cost and planning control policies, procedures, and tools, and will also oversee ongoing governance and enforcement of these standard practices.

Involved in specific capital projects, the Specialist will serve as a subject‑matter expert in the formation of cost estimates and project schedules.

After project launch, the Specialist will monitor actual project cost and work status data to ensure that projects proceed on schedule and within budget.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Analyzing monthly cost reports
• Providing status reports to management
• Assisting in the training of lower‑level controls personnel
• Implementing, evaluating, and monitoring controls systems
• Coordinating the use of controls equipment and facilities
• Conducting meetings with contractors and company personnel on cost control matters
• Acting as lead controls discipline representative on major projects

In all aspects of their role, the Specialist will establish and nurture productive relationships with stakeholders across the organization, communicating with precision and purpose.

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

• Five (5) or more years of work experience related to cost controls, accounting, budgeting, finance, business administration, or project management, with a preferred bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Project Management or a closely related field.
• In lieu of the preferred bachelor’s degree, an associate’s degree plus seven (7) or more years of related work experience may be substituted.
• In lieu of the preferred bachelor’s degree, a high school diploma/GED plus nine (9) or more years of related work experience may be substituted.

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of the preferred level of education. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Preferred disciplines include Accounting, Finance, Business, or a closely related degree, though other disciplines may be substituted.

Preferred candidates will possess additional training or certifications related to cost controls, financial management, or project management, including the Project Management Professional (PMP).
