Store Manager – Ross Stores, Inc.
Join Ross Stores, Inc as a Store Manager and lead a high‑performing retail team in Richmond, VA.
Location:
Richmond, VA – Salary: $71,819 – $83,669 per year.
Lead all aspects of store operations, ensuring company standards and best practices are consistently met. Staff, train, and develop the leadership team and associates to deliver desired sales and profit results while maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment.
Essential Functions- Lead all company best practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches.
- Analyze store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall store performance.
- Address any variance from company standards with an appropriate action plan in partnership with the District Manager.
- Ensure proper scheduling of associates to meet business objectives.
- Accept special assignments as directed by leadership.
- Administer payroll including daily punch edits, associate scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and payroll reporting.
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop assistant managers, area supervisors, and non‑exempt associates.
- Use retention tools such as incentive programs, recognition opportunities, contests, and training to reduce turnover.
- Address personnel and performance issues through coaching, warnings, discipline, and termination as needed.
- Ensure compliance with Ross personnel policies and procedures.
- Consult with the District Manager on associate relations issues.
- Maintain compliance with all state, local, and federal regulations.
- Lead all expenditures to stay within budget.
- Control payroll hours and adjust to business trends.
- Adhere to company safety policies and ensure safety of associates and customers.
- Ensure all associates understand and can execute emergency operating procedures.
- Treat customers, associates, and other leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
- Execute customer service and merchandise presentation programs through associate training and supervision.
- Coach associates to provide efficient, friendly service at registers, customer service desk, fitting rooms, and sales floor.
- Lead store associates in maintaining a professional appearance per the dress code.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Ensure store environment is clean, neat, and easy to shop.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards with help from maintenance personnel.
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards.
- Present merchandise according to merchandising guidelines.
- Urgently manage merchandise processing to the sales floor within expected timeframe.
- Train associates on loss prevention programs to achieve store shortage goals.
- Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguard confidential information.
- Maintain a strong customer service presence on the sales floor to heighten loss prevention awareness.
- Lead the annual inventory process and execute inventory guidelines.

- Five or more years of store management experience in a retail environment.
- High level of customer service.

- Fluency in English.
- Exercise independent judgement and discretion.
- Available to work evenings and weekends.
- Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
- Stand, walk, and move throughout store up to 100% of working time.
- Regularly bend at waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
