Maintenance Assistant

Position: Maintenance Assistant I - 25-26
General Statement of Duties

This position is a 12-month, 8 hour per day position. The work hours are 7:00 a.m.

- 3:30 p.m. Salary minimum is $37,378.62.

Essential Duties

• Assists in the operation, maintenance, repair, replacement and installation of school property
• Assists in the cleaning, repairing, replacing parts of electrical and wiring devices, heating controls, boilers, plumbing lines and fixtures
• Assists in assigned painting projects
• Assists in repairing, altering or building furniture, glass replacement, carpeting, tile, gutters, roofing and fences
• Performs ground maintenance: mowing, snow-ice removal
• Operates maintenance tools and equipment
• Maintains tools, equipment and supplies in accordance with standards
• Attends work daily and be engaged and on task
• Performs overtime work and other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or trade school. Some knowledge of general maintenance tools and their use; ability to perform routine maintenance and repair tasks with minimum instruction and supervision. Must be able to tolerate high altitudes climbing ladders, working on roofs and potentially bucket ladders. In addition, this is primarily a position with outdoor school facility responsibilities and functions and therefore, subject to extremes in weather conditions year-round.

Must also possess a valid Virginia drivers' license.

Additional Information

Minimum $17.97 per hour or for internal candidates, based on promotion policy - this position is open until filled. The salary for this position will be prorated based upon the official start date. The work hours are 7:00 a.m.
