The Financial Reporting Manager will oversee the preparation and delivery of internal and external financial reporting, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements. This role will play a key part in managing the reporting process, supporting audits, and addressing technical accounting matters within a complex, asset-intensive environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, leadership experience, and a background in public accounting and/or energy-related industries.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Oversee external reporting requirements, including SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K), if applicable.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and industry-specific accounting standards.
- Lead the preparation of financial statement disclosures and footnotes, including complex areas such as asset retirement obligations (AROs), impairments, and revenue recognition.
- Coordinate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Perform and review technical accounting research and memos for complex transactions.
- Manage and improve financial reporting processes and internal controls, including SOX compliance if applicable.
- Partner with FP&A, Operations, and Accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a high-performing team environment.
- Support implementation of new accounting standards and reporting systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required or strongly preferred.
- 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) and/or industry experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements; SEC reporting experience preferred.
- Experience in the energy, utilities, or oil & gas sector preferred.
- Familiarity with industry-specific accounting concepts such as AROs, depletion/amortization, joint interest accounting, or similar.
- Experience with financial reporting and consolidation systems (e.g., Hyperion, One Stream, Workiva, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, reporting-driven environment.
