Role Description

The CPR Instructor is a full-time, on-site role located in Maryland, United States, responsible for delivering high-quality CPR and basic life support instruction to students, employees, and community members. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and teaching CPR courses, demonstrating and supervising hands-on skills practice, and ensuring all training adheres to current guidelines and certifying body standards. The role involves assessing learner performance, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate training records, rosters, and certification documentation.

The CPR Instructor collaborates with academic and workforce development staff to schedule classes, support program development, and promote safety and preparedness across campus. Additional responsibilities may include maintaining equipment, participating in professional development, and contributing to initiatives that align with HCC’s mission and values.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess clinical or field experience such as Paramedic or EMT, with current and relevant certifications.
  • Candidates should possess strong Training and Teaching skills, including the ability to explain procedures clearly and facilitate hands-on practice.
  • Candidates should possess effective Customer Service skills, demonstrating patience, professionalism, and support for learners of diverse backgrounds and experience levels.
  • Current CPR and basic life support instructor certification from a recognized organization (e.g., AHA) is required or strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to create an inclusive, respectful, and safety-focused learning environment.
  • Ability to organize classes, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate documentation and compliance with institutional and certifying body requirements.
  • Experience teaching in higher education or adult education settings is beneficial, as is familiarity with community college missions and diverse learner populations.
  • Associate degree or higher in a health-related, public safety, or education field is preferred.
