AboutThe Role
Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineer to support our Cyber Mission business unit located in Annapolis Junction, MD. The team supports multiple products that automate manual tasks so that mission customers can focus on more complex issues. The team employs Agile methodologies and Dev Ops principles to ensure that high-quality, reliable software is delivered to the customer. The position is to be performed in a contractor facility which allows for flexible work schedules.
In addition, the opportunity for teleworking is available based on tasking and customer approval.
The Systems Engineer Level 2 will analyze users' needs, draft concepts of operations (CONOPS), and use high-level system architectures to develop system requirements and specifications. The candidate will analyze system requirements, participate in design and development activities, guide users in formulating requirements, advise on alternative approaches, and conduct feasibility studies. The candidate will also plan and conduct system verification activities.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Guiding system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system integration and test plans.
- Interact with Government stakeholders regarding systems engineering technical considerations, risks, issues, and conflicts.
- Communicating with other program personnel and government leadership.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with current polygraph is required.
- Fourteen (14) years' experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
- Bachelor's degree in system engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required.
- The ability to implement comprehensive SOA solutions.
- The ability to conduct and/or approve end-to-end system trade analyses to optimize system operations over its life cycle through the proper balance of non-functional system performance areas.
- The ability to ensure effective, periodic review and control of the evolving configuration of a system, both hardware and software components and associated documentation, during the life of the system.
- The ability to develop system design alternatives that consider life cycle cost, reuse, complexity, risk, system expansion, and growth.
- The ability to maintain knowledge of current and evolving agency, national, and international standards applicable to the system development of interest.
- The ability to recommend a preferred solution based on selection criteria.
- The ability to provide technical direction for the full systems engineering life cycle.
- The ability to fully define interfaces in terms of origination, destination, stimulus, and data characteristics for software.
- Experience with current and evolving agency dataflow and reporting solutions.
- Experience with a ticketing system such as GITLAB or JIRA.
- Experience leading agile Scrum activities.
- Experience monitoring clustered or cloud environments.
- Experience troubleshooting issues and communicating effectively with users and stakeholders.
