Technical Writer
Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a Senior Technical Writer who will be responsible for the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of technical documentation including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation. The role includes writing and editing technical documentation for all project hardware and software, creating code documentation, implementation guides, end‑user guides, field data definitions, and data flow documentation, and formatting technical publications from pamphlets, technical drawings, and consultations with technical personnel and other available resources.
Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain operations documentation, user guides, manuals, and technical publications
- Write technical copy for a variety of documents
- Gather technical information and prepare written text
- Maintain an internal documentation library
- Use word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
- Work with developers to produce quality documentation and training materials
- Work on all phases of documentation
- Prepare reports, responses, and briefings for a wide range of audiences
- Coordinate layout and design of documents
- Research technical subject matter, organize information from multiple sources, and express it in clear written form
- Apply technical writing concepts based on engineering drawings and consultation with engineers and subject‑matter experts
- Produce defense acquisition documentation, user manuals, training manuals, and other documentation for DoD electronic equipment and systems
- Interpret engineering and maintenance drawings, operational procedures to synthesize complex computer‑related information
- Produce technical documentation for cryptologic programs or projects developing analytic tradecraft methodologies
- Apply the technical manual standard NSA DS‑89 to work products
- Six (6) years experience as a Technical Writer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university (four (4) additional years of TW experience may be substituted)
- Active security clearance with polygraph
