We are seeking a detail-oriented Customs Entry Writer to support a high-volume ocean and air import operation. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and transmit customs entries for both ocean and air shipments in compliance with CBP regulations
  • Review and validate commercial documents (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, air waybills) and HTS classifications
  • Handle FDA filings along with other PGA/OGA requirements (EPA, TSCA, ADD/CVD as applicable)
  • Communicate directly with clients on shipment status, documentation issues, and clearance updates
  • Ensure all ISFs are filed timely for ocean shipments and ISF is bill on file
  • Track container and freight availability, confirm cargo release, and monitor Last Free Day (LFD) to avoid demurrage, detention, and storage charges
  • Coordinate with steamship lines, airlines, terminals, warehouses, and trucking partners to ensure timely cargo movement
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready entry files and respond to CBP requests or exams as needed
  • Support ongoing compliance with trade regulations, tariffs, and partner government agency requirements
  • Review entry data prior to submission and resolve discrepancies quickly
  • Ensure adherence to all federal regulations and internal compliance standards

Qualifications

  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) or Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) preferred
  • High School diploma required;
    Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of customs brokerage or entry writing experience across ocean and/or air modes
  • Experience with FDA-regulated commodities strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of HTS classification, valuation, and country of origin
  • Familiarity with ISF filing requirements and ocean import documentation (bills of lading, container tracking)
  • Experience with Cargo Wise or similar systems is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume, time-sensitive work across multiple transport modes
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
