Receiving Clerk

Job Description

Receives and stores materials, supplies, furniture and equipment delivered to the hospital. Storeroom Supervisor

Moderate:
Follows general instructions and directions; plans own time to a degree to meet pre-determined schedules; work is subject to moderately direct supervision.

High School graduate or equivalent required. Must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform simple arithmetic computations. Clerical perception is required to detect errors on requisitions, purchase orders, and inventory records. Should have the temperament to adjust to routine stock work.

The worker is generally subject to inside environmental conditions. Some protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The exception to these are when the worker is on the dock with the door open. The worker is subject to extreme cold and heat in the dock area. The worker is subject to noise due to trucks. This may cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the encompassing noise level.

The worker is subject to hazards which include physical and chemical. The worker may be subject to occasional physical hazards such as moving heavy medical equipment. The worker is subject to possible chemical hazards. The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, and dust. Potential for regular exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials, requiring the observance of Universal Precautions and safe handling practices.

This position has been classified as low or no exposure risk and does not require the completion of an annual testing, but may require "just in time" testing if the need arises.
