Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Engineering
Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Independent buyer responsible for managing assigned commodities, suppliers, or OSP categories. Emphasis on cost, delivery performance, supplier relationships, and problem resolution.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Independently manages purchasing for assigned areas
- Negotiates pricing, lead times, and terms within authority
- Makes sourcing recommendations
- Resolves supplier and delivery issues proactively
- Manage end-to-end purchasing for assigned commodities or suppliers
- Lead RFQs and evaluate supplier cost, quality, and lead time
- Negotiate pricing and delivery terms to meet business needs
- Monitor supplier performance and recommend corrective actions
- Partner with planning, production, quality, and engineering
- Support cost-savings, supplier consolidation, and CI initiatives
- Ensure compliance with ITAR, AS9100, and customer requirements
- Mentor Buyer I or provide functional guidance as needed
- Support audits and documentation requests
Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 3–6 years purchasing experience in manufacturing
- Aerospace, defense, metal, or regulated manufacturing preferred
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making
- Cross-functional influence
- Ability to manage competing priorities independently
- The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where all areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and other mandatory safety equipment.
- For the most part, ambient temperatures with typical plant lighting and manufacturing equipment are present throughout the facility.
- Sit or stand as needed.
- Walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day.
- Reaching above shoulder height, below the waist, or lifting as required to reach documents or store materials throughout the workday.
- Proper lifting techniques required and can lift up to 50 lbs. independently.
- Ability and comfortability to work in small confine spaces while following proper safety protocol.
- Ability to accomplish the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
