Clinical Nurse II
The Clinical Nurse II (CN II) is an experienced professional registered nurse who provides direct patient care while serving as a clinical resource, mentor, and leader within the interdisciplinary team. The CN II demonstrates advanced clinical judgment, accountability, and commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. This role actively supports unit-based initiatives, quality improvement efforts, patient safety goals, and professional nursing practice standards while promoting a culture of collaboration, respect, and continuous learning.
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland with a current BLS certification required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive nursing care to patients across the continuum of care utilizing the nursing process.
- Demonstrates advanced clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Coordinates and collaborates with physicians, therapists, pharmacists, case managers, and ancillary staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Serves as a clinical resource and mentor to novice nurses, nursing students, and support staff.
- Participates in charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.
- Leads and supports evidence-based practice, quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory initiatives.
- Ensures compliance with organizational policies, nursing standards, and accreditation requirements.
- Supports patient and family education to promote informed decision-making and successful transitions of care.
- Promotes a positive work environment through teamwork, professionalism, and effective communication.
- Demonstrates accountability for maintaining clinical competence and professional development.
- Participates in performance improvement activities focused on falls prevention, pressure injury prevention, patient experience, infection prevention, and other organizational priorities.
