Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide leadership, managerial supervision and oversight of nursing and residential services. This position assists the Director of Nursing / Resident Services in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating nursing and residential operations to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, trauma‑informed, and regulatory‑compliant care for youth receiving residential treatment services. Additionally, this position serves as the acting Director in the absence of the Director and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, quality improvement, resident safety, workforce development, and regulatory compliance consistent with the mission and goals of JLG‑RICA.

Minimum QualificationsEducation: A Master's degree in Nursing or a health‑related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a psychiatric setting including two years in a supervisory, consultative, teaching or administrative capacity.
- Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a health‑related field from an accredited college or university and six years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a psychiatric setting including four years in a supervisory, consultative, teaching or administrative capacity for the required education and experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience and education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising patient care operations and nursing personnel.
- Experience with policy writing, implementation and revisions.
- Experience working with the Joint Commission.
- Knowledge of Code of Maryland (COMAR) regulations.
- Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing or a current multi‑state license in the states declared as primary residence.
- Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties must possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
- Employees in this classification are subject to call‑in and therefore will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.
- Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
