GI Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner

Job Description

Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UMBWMC), a member of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), is seeking a GI Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner to join BWMC’s campus in Glen Burnie, MD for weekend coverage only.

• Weekend coverage:
  Saturday and Sunday
• Hours:
  
  8:00am-4:00pm
• Average # of patients per day: 6-10
• Rounding, consultations and follow ups only.
• Clinical Assessment and Management:
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients admitted for gastrointestinal disorders, including history taking, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic tests.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians, tailored to meet the individual needs of each patient.
  • Manage acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions, including but not limited to inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, gastrointestinal bleeding, and pancreatitis.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as laboratory tests, imaging studies, and endoscopic procedures.
  • Prescribe medications and adjust dosages as necessary, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.

• Master of Science degree with completion of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program required.
• Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner required.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse required.
• Required inpatient experience.
• Preferred 1 year of GI experience.
• Current BLS certification or obtained prior to providing direct patient care is required.
• Experience preferred, not required.
• DEA and CDS eligible.
