American Traveler is hiring an Emergency Department RN for a night shift contract requiring 2+ years of ED experience and an active MD or Compact RN license.
Details- High-volume, fast-paced, non-trauma Emergency Department with 66 rooms/beds and an average census of 200+
- Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics with multiple complex diagnoses
- ER ratio of 1:4, up to 1:5 with lower acuity patients
- Includes a 10-bed ED hold/Observation unit staffed by the ER team with a 1:5 ratio, up to 1:6 with lower acuity
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within the ED specialty, including the hold/Obs unit as needed
- No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Active MD or Compact RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications required (AHA only for BLS/ACLS/PALS)
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Community hospital experience required
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Experience with patient ratios of 1:4-5 required
- Skilled in pediatric emergency care, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and arterial line management
- Experience with ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP management, and ABG interpretation
- Experience administering emergency medications and managing IV vasopressors
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
- Experience managing psychiatric holds, violent behavior, and suicidal patients
- Experience with orthopedic splinting and isolation precautions/PPE
- Provide emergency care across a wide range of pediatric, adult, and geriatric cases including trauma-adjacent and psychiatric presentations
- Support high-acuity emergency situations including STEMI and stroke protocols
- Travelers are expected to float within scope and specialty without restrictions
- First-time travelers will be considered if they have strong ED experience
- Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
- Former staff must have a 12-month break before returning as a traveler, and former travelers must wait at least 6 months before returning to the system
